A friendly group led by Laura meeting once a month at The Station House in Histon, providing an opportunity for adults to try new crafts and meet new people.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- learning new skills is great for cognition and memory;
- meeting new people over a skill or a hobby means there's less pressure to chat;
- having something to look forward to and a reason to get out of the house is an important part of building healthy and positive routines.

What to expect
Happy Crafters sessions are on Wednesday afternoons once a month in a room to the rear of The Station House in Histon. Sessions last for two hours and are aimed at anyone aged 16+.
When you arrive, someone from The Station House will greet you - tell them you are there for Happy Crafters and you'll be shown where to go. Laura, who runs the group, brings all the crafting materials and each session is an opportunity to try a different craft, with demonstrations and support. You can find out what craft is being tried in each session on Laura's Facebook page - crafts have included card making, sewing, crochet and origami. Sessions are planned and promoted on a termly basis.
Laura is an experienced crafter and trained tutor with lived experience of mental health challenges. Her calm, kind and supportive approach means that this group is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced crafters. You can take away what you make.
Contact Laura by email using the contact information provided for dates, times and to book to attend sessions (this is essential as spaces are limited).
