Heart & Soul

Back to Activities

Heart & Soul is a community of volunteers, specialist NHS Chaplains and peer support workers who host a variety of activities, religious services and groups that include and welcome people of all faiths and none at CPFT's base in Fulbourn.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • attending groups and activities provides a reason to get out of the house once a week;
  • it reduces isolation and loneliness;
  • connecting with others and sharing coping strategies can enhance personal resilience.

"Apart my monthly sessions with my psychotherapist attending Heart & Soul's Coffee Club is the best thing I do for my well-being: it really helps to talk to others here who face similar challenges."

What to expect

The following activities, groups and services are run by Heart & Soul – a community of NHS chaplains, peer support workers and volunteers who care about mental wellbeing.

  • Heart & Soul Weekly Service (Sunday, arrive 10.45am, service starts at 11am) - 35 minutes of singing, prayers, peaceful reflections with refreshments afterwards, led by Rev Cate, Rev Lesley or Father David on rotation.
  • Heart & Soul Online Friendship Group (Tuesdays 4-5pm via Zoom) - share how your week is going and meet other people, hosted by Brigit.
  • Heart & Soul Coffee Club (Wednesdays 3-4pm) - hot drinks, tea, cake and companionship, hosted by Rev Cate with The EDGE Cafe Fulbourn
  • Heart & Soul Poetry/Spoken Word Sessions (Wednesdays 1.30pm) - an opportunity to share meaning & experiences through poetry and the spoken word, led by Heart & Soul's Peer Support Worker Michael.
