SSYI supports young people by providing a place to socialise, people to talk to and opportunities to learn, develop and grow. It runs weekly youth clubs in Duxford, Great Shelford & Sawston as well as alternative education, 1:1 support, trips, activities and residentials.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- meeting other young people prevents social isolation;
- getting out and getting active is good for mental and physical health;
- if you are struggling, there is a supportive and friendly team of youth workers who can listen and help.

What to expect
If you are a young person living in or around Duxford, Shelford, Sawston and Stapleford and you are looking for things to do, people to meet and a place to go, then SSYI is for you.
There is a weekly programme of youth clubs and activities (visit the website for more details), or you can ask for 1:1 support or mentoring from one of the youth workers. Most activities take place after school, but trips and residentials take place in the school holidays.
Everyone at SSYI is friendly and welcoming, and if you are feeling apprehensive that you won’t know anyone, then you can have a chat with Zac before you come along. The youth clubs and weekly activities are drop-in, so just turn up to the right place at the right time (see the website for details).

If you are an adult and would like to lend a hand, SSYI is keen to recruit volunteers for a variety of tasks. Talk to Zac for details.
Unfortunately, SSYI Youth Centre in Shelford is not wheelchair accessible.
Except for residentials and day trips, joining SSYI clubs and activities is free. At youth club there are drinks and snacks for sale.
