Litter Picking and Community Clear Ups

Back to Activities

Picking up litter is such an easy task but the impact it has on the environment is enormous. Whether you join an organised group of litter pickers or want to make a difference by yourself, here is some information to get you started.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • getting outside and doing exercise feels good;
  • putting something back by volunteering your time is worthwhile;
  • you may get to meet other like-minded people - team work makes the dream work!

"Litter-picking is strangely addictive - working in a a group or alone, after a couple of hours everything looks SO much better! And the tidier a place looks the less likely people are to drop litter in future. The sense of achievement is huge."
