What to expect
Wild Wings Forest School is run by two educators who are passionate about nature, mental health and play. They run holiday clubs at Harston and Newton Community Primary School for children aged between three and twelve years old.
The sessions are based around self-directed play, co-operation, exploration and supported risk-taking. Each session is different as the activities are led by what the children want to discover. They have hammocks, ropes, swings, tree dens, a mud kitchen, digging areas and a dirt mound to enjoy. There are also some adult-initiated activities where they teach the children how to use tools, how to light a fire with flint and steel, and how to cook over the fire.
Sessions take place outside no matter the weather, so it is important to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Activities for Adults
Wild Wings also run Forest School activities for adults, including nature crafts, green woodworking, cooking on fire and fireside chats. These are held in various outdoor locations across South Cambridgeshire.
