YANA – You Are Not Alone

Back to Support

YANA provide mental health support for anyone working in farming, agriculture or a related rural business. If you are struggling, you can call their confidential helpline and speak to one of their volunteers. You can also receive talking therapy sessions with a YANA counsellor.

Farming or working in the countryside is usually a good way of life, but it is a demanding and stressful occupation with a particular set of pressures. So, it’s not surprising that many people involved with agriculture can feel isolated, depressed or unable to cope as well as normal.

YANA offers specific help for those involved with agriculture or other rural businesses in East Anglia through:

Helpline

If you are involved with agriculture or another rural business and are feeling low, or if you are worried about a member of your family, a colleague or a friend, YANA can help. Call their helpline 0300 323 0400 for confidential support or email [email protected].

Mental Health First Aid Courses (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid training can help you to know the best things to say and do to support someone who is struggling with their mental health. Having the right toolkit can help you provide comfort and relief, prevent a problem from getting worse and enable you signpost people to other useful sources of assistance.

YANA organises two-day MHFA training courses which are free to attend, and run by accredited MHFA England trainers. They plan to organise MHFA courses in Cambridgeshire starting in 2023. If you want to be considered for a place on a YANA MHFA course send an email to [email protected].

If you are a gamekeeper, you can also seek advice and support from the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust.
