The Connections Bus Project provides youth clubs and activities in South Cambs. If you're aged between 14-17 and would like to become a safe and confident babysitter, their 10-week Babysitting Course will give you skills, practical experience and a Basic First Aid certification.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • learning new skills and gaining experience will boost your confidence;
  • you'll meet other local young people;
  • babysitting is rewarding and fun (you'll be helping families in your community) - plus you can earn some extra income.

What to expect

You’ll learn:

  • Practical skills from basic babysitting techniques to emergency first aid, you’ll be prepared to handle various babysitting scenarios.
  • The knowledge and confidence to care for children of all ages.
  • Hands-on activities and engaging discussions on various aspects of childcare.
  • Essential safety techniques, including accident prevention, fire safety and first aid - ensuring you're prepared for any situation.

  • Learn from professional youth workers who will guide you through both theory and practical skills in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
  • You'll receive a certificate upon successful completion, including a Basic First Aid qualification.
  • Build your own portfolio to showcase your skills and experience and boost your CV.
  • Contributes towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award - use this course to complete your Bronze Skills section.

More information

Open to young people aged 14–17, this course includes ten weekly in-person sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours. Groups are limited to a maximum of 14 participants to ensure a supportive and engaging learning environment. Courses take place after school on weekdays and are offered at various times throughout the year—please check our website or Facebook page for current schedules.

Refreshments are provided.

Attending the course costs £20 per person (including the First Aid course) and  sponsorship from the local Parish Council and/or another funding stream.
