Cambourne Timebank is a group for people to get together, make new friends and support one another within their community. Timebanking is a way of helping each other by exchanging ideas, knowledge or practical help. Everyone is welcome!
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- what is good for the community is good for our mental and physical wellbeing;
- sharing skills & talents grows confidence and self-esteem;
- it’s fun!
“I can’t praise Timebank enough. I’ve found a really nice little friend and I thoroughly look forward to Janet’s visits. It makes me feel really good about myself.” – Shirley about a Cambourne Timebank volunteer befriender

What to expect
If you are interested in finding out about the Timebank then register your interest via the website – everyone is welcome regardless of age or ability and it is a friendly group.
If you become a member you share hobbies, skills and knowledge and earn time credits in return. Time credits can be ‘spent’ on yourself or donated to a community pot to help others.
Everyone’s time is equal: one hour of help earns one time credit to spend when you need it. For example, an hour spent painting the garden fence of someone living with dementia, or mowing their lawn, is equal to offering a room for a support group to meet in.
Some local organisations in Cambourne are members of the Timebank including Cambourne Crier, CamCareUK and 19 the Coffee House, so people who volunteer there can sign up to earn Time Credits for their volunteer hours. Time Credits can be spent at participating leisure facilities such as Cambridge Light Cinema and Clip n Climb.
Joining the Timebank is free.
