Fen Ditton Gardening Club

Back to Activities

Fen Ditton Gardening Club is a friendly and social group open to anyone with an interest in gardening, nature or conservation. The Club offers a varied program of speakers, garden visits, plant sales and social events throughout the year.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • social events and meetings are a good opportunity to meet people with similar hobbies and interests;
  • connecting with nature can enhance mental health and overall wellbeing;
  • gardening provides a sense of calm and purpose, relieving stress.

"I love coming to the Gardening Club because I find the talks engaging and I enjoy getting to meet other members of the community. Not just through the talks but also attending the plant sale and village show. Everyone is super friendly and I've always felt welcome".

What to expect

The Fen Ditton Gardening Club is a friendly and social group offering a varied program of speakers, garden visits, plant sales and social events throughout the year. It welcomes life-long gardeners or people who are just getting started.

The Club meets in the evening on the fourth Tuesday of the month (between October and April), in Fen Ditton Village Hall or Marleigh Community Centre - to check dates and times visit the website or email the Club using the contact info provided.

Meetings include talks on practical gardening tips to speakers who are experts in their field sharing knowledge on subjects they are passionate about. Talks last for approximately one hour, and at the beginning of each meeting there is a chance to meet other members, socialise and have a drink - please bring your own glass.

During the summer months, the programme changes to include an organised trip to a garden, a picnic and a plant sale. At the end of the gardening year, there is an annual village show in September, followed by the Club's Annual General Meeting in October. To attend outings, you will need to be a member of the Club and places need to be booked and paid for in advance.

If you'd like to find out more, you can pop along to a meeting as a guest. One of the Club members would be delighted to welcome you and talk you through membership options and give you information about summer events.
