Run by volunteers for the benefit of the community, Fulbourn Village Library is supported by Cambridgeshire County Council and Fulbourn Parish Council. Drop in when it's open to have a chat and see what's on offer.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- everyone is welcome and it’s a good place to pop-in every week;
- there’s a good range of ‘Reading Well for Mental Health’ books suitable for all ages;
- there are regular book sales and coffee mornings, where you can have a drink and a chat with other people.
“This is the nicest place in the village!”

What to expect
Though run by volunteers, Fulbourn Village Library is part of Cambridgeshire Libraries. Books available to borrow at any time include adult fiction of all genres (including large print versions), non-fiction including local studies, children’s books and young adult titles. The Village Library subscribes to Which?, providing online access to the members’ area of the website, which includes detailed consumer reports. Which? monthly magazines are also available to read at the Library.
By joining the Fulbourn Village Library, you also become a member of Cambridgeshire Libraries providing you with the opportunity to request books from the Cambridgeshire, Suffolk or Peterborough Libraries collections and access online services including e-books and audio books. It also entitles you to visit and borrow books from other libraries in Cambridgeshire. There is also a computer for use by Cambridgeshire Libraries members, and printing and copying facilities are available for a small charge.
Two volunteers are on duty during opening hours to assist and guide visitors.
Fulbourn Village Library also hosts regular events and activities – including a Storytime Saturday session for children under 6 years old, book sales and coffee mornings (check the website for dates/times). Local authors are also invited to give talks.
If you’d like to be a volunteer at the library, speak to one of the volunteers.
