Girton Memory Café

Back to Activities

Co-ordinated by the Cambridge-South Rotary Club, the Girton Memory Café is a friendly gathering of people living with memory loss and their carers.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • socialising with memory-loss can be difficult, but everyone at the Memory Café is understanding and supportive;
  • meeting other people with similar experiences tackles loneliness and isolation;
  • the Café provides emotional and practical support for carers and family members.

What to expect

The Girton Memory Café provides a warm welcome for people with dementia or memory loss (and their families or carers). The aim is to evoke old memories that are complete and comfortable through refreshments served in china cups, home-made cakes, photos and documents from past years, songs, poems and informal talks – all in a relaxed atmosphere.

No need to book, just turn up on the first Friday of the month from 10.00am to 12.00pm. You don’t have to live in Girton to attend – everybody is welcome.
