Little Miss Honkytonks Line Dancing

Back to Activities

Little Miss Honkytonks line dancing in Willingham is for all ages and abilities. Line dancing is made up of easy-to-learn steps that are repeated to music. You dance in lines with everyone else, so it’s perfect if you’ve never danced before or if you don't have a partner.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • line dancing boosts mood – dancing releases feel-good endorphins and helps reduce stress and anxiety;
  • it keeps you active and improves balance, coordination, strength and flexibility in a fun way - learning steps also boosts memory;
  • it connects you with others – dancing together builds confidence, friendships and a real sense of community.

“I came along very nervous because I did not come with anyone, but Emma soon put me at ease - it was such good fun. It didn’t matter if I didn’t get it straight away as there is always plenty of opportunity to go over dances again. I came out of my first class smiling and already looking forward to the next class!"

What to expect

When you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed by Emma who is the founder of Little Miss Honkytonks. Sessions always start with a beginner dance and Emma explains the steps in a way that is easy to follow. Once everyone has walked through the steps, then the music starts! The class is specifically for beginners and improvers, and many people attend who have never danced before. Emma is friendly, patient and supportive and leads the sessions every week. No-one minds if it takes you a while to find your feet. If you are feeling nervous ahead of your first session, you can contact Emma in advance - she can meet you a little earlier or answer any questions you may have.

A mix of men and women of all ages attend the class – some brand new, some with a little experience. Everyone is there to enjoy themselves and support each other.

You’re free to take breaks or leave early if you need to – this is your time and you can take it at your own pace.
