LJ's Line Dancing

Back to Activities

LJ's Line Dancing is for all ages and abilities, with classes in Great Abington, Hauxton, Haverhill and Sawston. Learn fun dances to great music whilst improving coordination, fitness, rhythm and confidence in a relaxed, social and welcoming environment.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it improves physical health through gentle exercise and full body movement;
  • it boosts mental wellbeing by reducing stress and improving focus;
  • it encourages social connections and confidence in a supportive group setting.

“I was worried the first time I attended a line dance class, I went alone but everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I never thought I’d pick the line dancing up but after a few weeks of perseverance and encouragement from Lisa I quickly got the hang of it. I’m glad I pushed myself and attended that first class, I love it, I’m so glad I went.”

What to expect

Line dancing is made up of easy-to-learn steps that are repeated to music. You dance in lines with everyone else, so it’s perfect if you’ve never danced before or if you don't have a partner.

To find out dates and times, contact Lisa or check out her Facebook page.

When you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed by Lisa who will explain the steps in a way that is easy to follow. Lisa is a trained instructor and is good at putting people at their ease. No-one minds if it takes you a while to find your feet.

A mix of men and women of all ages attend the class. Sessions last for an hour and a half with a few short breaks for you to grab a drink, so bring a bottle of juice or water. You can sit down at any time during a session if you need to take a break.
