Melbourn Timebank is a friendly group of individuals and organisations swapping skills and support in Melbourn and the surrounding area. Members spend time helping each other or sharing hobbies, skills and knowledge and earn time credits in return. Everyone is welcome!
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- what is good for the community is good for our mental and physical wellbeing;
- meeting other people tackles loneliness and isolation;
- sharing skills & talents grows confidence and self-esteem.
“I hadn’t left the house for about a year, and a Social Prescribing Link Worker suggested I should join Melbourn Time Bank. I went to a coffee morning and was made to feel so welcome by other Timebank members.”

What to expect
If you are interested in finding out about the Timebank then take a look at the website for current opportunities and to register your interest. Or you can call or email Stephanie Trayhurn (Timebank & Community Coordinator) using the contact info.
If you become a member you share hobbies, skills and knowledge and earn time credits in return. Time credits can be ‘spent’ on yourself or donated to a community pot to help others.
Everyone’s time is equal: one hour of help earns one time credit to spend when you need it. For example, an hour spent painting the garden fence of someone living with dementia, or mowing their lawn, is equal to offering a room for a support group to meet in.
In addition members can attend Timebank events and groups – there is an Arts & Crafts group and a Dog Cafe!
Joining Melbourn Timebank is free but members pay for their own refreshments at coffee mornings and lunches.
