Mobile Libraries

Back to Activities

Mobile libraries help more people to use Cambridgeshire Libraries' services, visiting many communities in South Cambs once a month.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • visiting a mobile library is a convenient way to access books, audio books and children's books - either from what is already on the vehicle or by requesting the item you would like;
  • you will be supporting a valued community resource;
  • mobile libraries also have free walking stick or walking frame ferrules, free NHS hearing aid batteries, as well as reading glasses and postage stamps for sale.

What to expect

Some customers use mobile libraries because they find it hard to travel to a static library. Others use mobile libraries to return books they have borrowed from elsewhere.

There are books and audiobooks on each mobile library that you can borrow if you join Cambridgeshire Libraries. You can also request books, adult spoken word cassettes and CDs. You can also request books online to collect from the mobile library on your next visit - visit the website to find out more. Any item borrowed from a mobile library can be returned to any other Cambridgeshire Library. Items borrowed from other libraries can also be returned to mobile libraries.

Anyone who lives or works in Cambridgeshire can use a mobile library. You can register to join Cambridgeshire Libraries online. You can also join Cambridgeshire Libraries on board any of the mobile libraries.

Dates, times and locations for mobile library stops are on this link.
