Move&Relax

Back to Activities

Move&Relax is a conscious dance and relaxation session for adults of all abilities in Marleigh at the edge of Cambridge. You are free to move in your own way, release tension, reconnect with yourself and support your wellbeing in a safe, welcoming space.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it helps release stress and tension stored in the body through gentle, conscious movement -  each session concludes with a 15 minute Progressive Muscle Relaxation, which supports deep physical release and mental calm;
  • it offers a chance for participants to try something new, connect with themselves and others, become physically active through conscious movement and dance, and be present through mindfulness and relaxation techniques;
  • Sev creates a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone is free to explore movement in their own way. There is no right or wrong way to move. The space encourages letting go of overthinking and self-judgement, allowing participants to reconnect with themselves, feel grounded, and support their own wellbeing.

“A space to express yourself, release tension, and relax in a calm, welcoming environment.”
“Move and Relax is about being yourself in motion.”
“Like a dancing meditation.”
“It’s feeling the music, moving the way your body guides you, and forgetting how you look to the outside world.”

What to expect

Move&Relax is a conscious dance session where you connect with yourself and release tension from your body through mindful movement, followed by a relaxation part at the end. It is for anyone over the age of 18 and for all physical abilities, as you always have the freedom to choose what is right for yourself and your body. If you need to rest during the session, or if you want to lie down or sit in a chair, you are welcome to do so.

A playlist is prepared for each session with a variety of genres and rhythms. The session begins slowly to support grounding, gradually increases into a more energetic pace, and then slows down again. Music may include instrumental, classical, world music, electronic music and more.

The sessions are led by Sev (Seweryn). When you arrive Sev will greet you and have a short welcome conversation where any questions can be discussed. You are invited to arrive around 10 minutes early to settle in.
