Muay Thai – JH Fitness AcademyBack to Activities
Muay Thai is a form of kickboxing that incorporates knees and elbows as well as punches and kicks. This is a contact class taught by Junior Herbert who founded the Academy and is a Third Dan Black Belt in Muay Thai.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- learning new skills with a trained instructor is a great way to boost your mental health and get a sense of achievement;
- exercise is a great stress-buster;
- working out with others is motivational as well as sociable.
“When I started with Junior, although I probably looked healthy on the outside, I wasn’t strong. Doing more than two press-ups was a struggle, more than a 4kg kettle bell was too heavy…I was determined to get strong. I was initially reluctant to join, making excuses. Junior got me on board and from then I’ve gone from strength to strength, literally. I feel strong, motivated and positive. Before, the thought of a workout filled me with dread, now I hate not working out. This isn’t just a whim, this is my life now. I can’t thank Junior enough for getting me started and pushing me towards my fitness goals.” Kirsty
