Northstowe Lakes

Back to Activities

Northstowe has three lakes - two of them can be enjoyed on foot or by bike, pushchair or wheelchair. They are also ideal for dog walking, having a picnic or just being in nature.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • being outside in the fresh air is energising;
  • the lakes are a haven for wildlife and taking a moment to connect with nature is a good stress-buster;
  • if you enjoy running or walking, the lakes are a great place to exercise.

“I come with my dog – even when it’s raining, the paths don’t get muddy so he can have a good walk and I don’t get covered!”

What to expect

There are three new lakes at Northstowe, located next to the guided busway. Two of them are encircled by level paths so you can take a circular route around them on foot, by bike or using a wheelchair or pushchair. If you enjoy bird-watching, bring your binoculars. You can find out about what each of the lakes is called and why on this link.

There are picnic tables, benches and bridges.
