As a new settlement, there are lots of groups, activities and organisations in Northstowe that need volunteers to sustain and support what they do for the community. Whatever time, skills or experience you have to share, there's something for everyone.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- you get the chance to meet other people and feel part of a team;
- helping others feels good and gives you purpose and a routine;
- you can learn new skills and grow in confidence.
What to expect
South Cambs District Council’s Northstowe Community team maintain a list of volunteering opportunities, including which organisation or group is looking for an extra pair of hands; what skills or experience are required; what time commitment is needed and what tasks need doing.
Some volunteering opportunities are time-limited and linked to a particular event – for example, marshalling a race or helping with activities for The Big Green Week. Some need ongoing support – website administration or serving at the Community Café in The Cabin.
Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be warmly welcomed and supported.
