Over Memory Café

Back to Activities

Providing a welcoming, safe and comfortable space with a mix of music, singing, poetry readings, activities & talks for people living with memory loss and their companions. Based in Over Day Centre and held on the fourth Saturday of every month.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • socialising with memory-loss can be difficult, but everyone at the Memory Café is understanding and supportive;
  • meeting other people with similar experiences tackles loneliness and isolation;
  • the Café provides social and practical support for carers and family members.

“There was lots & lots of singing, Mexican waves, audience participation and even dancing. At an interlude in proceedings, with time to top up with refreshments and cake, some poems were read out loud as well as an extract from a news article about the moon landing.”

“One word, EXCELLENT!! Thank you very much.”

What to expect

Over Memory Café provides a warm welcome for people with dementia or memory loss. With a range of activities plus refreshments, you can spend time with other people who have similar experiences and challenges.

The Memory Café is run by volunteers who rely on guests being accompanied by a carer or family member.
