Back to Activities

At these free discussion groups you can join friendly, like-minded people to explore different philosophical topics. Everyone is welcome to come along and either contribute to the discussion or sit and listen.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • learning something new can give you a confidence boost;
  • you will connect with other people and have interesting discussions;
  • spending time outdoors can reduce stress and improve mood.

What to expect?

These free monthly discussion groups are run by The School of Philosophy, Cambridge. They focus on practical philosophy, discussing how philosophical ideas can be applied to our everyday lives to promote happiness and wellbeing. The subjects explored are suggested by attendees, so the conversations address issues relevant to everyday living, rather than abstract ideas. The groups are non-judgemental and conducted with compassion and sensitivity.

Details of upcoming events are listed on the ‘Philosophy in the Park and the Orchard’ group on the Meetup website.

The discussion groups are free to attend. You need to make an account on the Meetup website and then register onto the event to book your place. Making an account on Meetup is free – you just need to enter your name, email address and choose a password.
