POP Collective CIC

Back to Activities

POP Collective CIC provides inclusive performing arts opportunities for children and young people aged 8-18, particularly those with SEND, anxiety or low confidence, in venues in Cambridge and South Cambs.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • creative activities help children and young people express themselves, build confidence, and develop self-esteem in a supportive environment;
  • sessions provide opportunities to make friends, build social connections, and develop a sense of belonging within a welcoming community;
  • taking part in drama, music, movement, and creative activities can reduce feelings of anxiety and isolation while supporting emotional wellbeing and resilience.

What to expect

Who is the activity for?
POP Collective sessions combine drama, music, movement, games, and creative activities in a fun, supportive environment. Activities are adapted to suit different ages, abilities, and needs. No previous experience is required. Sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with an interest in performing arts. POP Collective welcomes children and young people aged 8-18, but some sessions may be targeted towards specific age groups. Eligibility criteria can be found on the website.

What happens during the sessions?
Children and young people are greeted on arrival by members of the POP Collective team and supported to settle into the session at a pace that feels comfortable for them. Session lengths vary depending on the activity. Workshop sessions typically last between 2.5 and 3 hours, while term-time sessions range from 1 hour to 90 minutes.

Participants are encouraged to stay for the full session to gain the most benefit, but we understand that some young people may need flexibility and will work with families where appropriate.

How do I book?
Places should be booked in advance through the website or booking platform. Families are welcome to contact Marika and the team beforehand to discuss any additional needs, ask questions, or arrange a conversation if a child is feeling nervous about attending. POP will always speak to families ahead of time to get to know the children or young people who'll be attending.

More information

Where & when do sessions take place?
Sessions take place in the evening in accessible community venues across Cambridgeshire. Venue-specific information, including parking, public transport links, accessibility, and facilities, is provided when booking. Most venues have accessible toilets and step-free access. Families are encouraged to contact us before attending if specific adjustments are required.

What should I wear / bring?
Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and bring a water bottle. Parents and carers receive information in advance about what to expect and who to contact if they have any questions.

Can I bring a carer / parent / guest / support worker?
POP Collective sessions are designed as drop-off activities for children and young people, though it is understood that some participants may require additional support to access activities safely and successfully. Contact the team to discuss your child or young person's support needs before attending so that an appropriate support plan can be developed. In some circumstances, a parent, carer, support worker, or personal assistant may be able to attend to support participation, particularly during a transition period or to meet an individual's needs. Any arrangements for support attendance will be agreed in advance and, where required to support participation, carers or support workers can attend free of charge.
