Queenholme Alpacas

Back to Activities

On the outskirts of Willingham and in beautiful fen-edge countryside, Queenholme Farm is home to a herd of alpacas which you can spend time with, learn about or take for a trek.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • taking care of animals helps us take care of ourselves;
  • finding out about the natural world is rewarding ;
  • Queenholme Farm is the perfect place to spend time outdoors and surrounded by nature.

“Alpacas have surprisingly big personalities for such gentle animals – being around them and learning about them gave our team a unique and memorable experience – and lots of laughs!”

What to expect

Queenholme Farm is set in acres of countryside that is a ten minute drive or thirty minute walk down a single track road from the village of Willingham. When you arrive, you will be greeted by Katy (who founded Queenholme Alpacas) who will ask you to dip your shoes/boots in disinfectant to keep all of the animals on the farm healthy. You’ll then be taken for a talk (with refreshments) in the purpose-built meeting room overlooking a lake – Katy is an entertaining speaker and the beautiful surroundings will ensure you feel relaxed.

Groups and individuals can book an alpaca trek or a ‘meet and greet’. Katy will tailor the experience for your needs, abilities and objectives, ranging from corporate team-building days to alpaca encounters for neuro-diverse young people. You won’t have to do anything you don’t want to do (for example, if you are anxious around animals you don’t have to stroke or feed the alpacas). As prey animals, alpacas don’t like loud noise or sudden movements, so being around them encourages you to be calm – but once they are relaxed, their cheeky and inquisitive personalities are apparent (especially when carrots are around).

If alpacas aren’t your thing, Queenholme Farm also offers bee-keeping workshops.
