Singing Mamas groups offer a space for women of all ages to learn simple songs by ear with time for chat and connection. Groups meet in Waterbeach and Cambridge. You are welcome to bring babies and small children along. There is also a monthly song circle just for women.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- singing has been proven to be good for mental wellbeing and boosting mood;
- time for chat at the end of each session means it's a good way to meet people;
- the songs are learned by ear so you don't need to read music or have any experience of singing in a group - this means are sessions are great for nervous singers or people who want to learn a new skill.

What to expect
The groups offer an opportunity for women to learn songs, sing in a supportive group and enjoy company and connection. No previous singing experience is required.
Sally leads a group for women and their babies/small children in Cambridge on Thursday mornings. Sally also runs two groups in Waterbeach at Waterbeach Barracks Studio. There is a group for women and babies/small children on Tuesday mornings and a monthly Song Circle just for women (no children) on the last Sunday evening of each month. All groups are term time only.
The songs that the groups sing are gentle and positive, and there are no nursery rhymes! You can hear some examples of the songs in the video below. Sally sings each song line by line and the group echoes back until everyone knows it off by heart.
At the end of the session there is time for a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit and a chance to chat to other attendees.

The class at Waterbeach Barracks is held in the Community Room, which is within the Waterbeach Military Heritage Museum (shown above with historic pictures on the side of the building). The building is wheelchair accessible and there is a toilet available.

First session is free.

Pay as you go and monthly payment options are available. Bursary places available. Contact Sally for more details.
