u3a – Melbourn and District

Back to Activities

u3a organises educational, social and fitness activities for people no longer in full-time employment. Run by members for members, u3a activities, groups and events are a great way of meeting people with similar interests in your local area.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • attending courses can help you keep physically and mentally active, and give structure to your week;
  • you will make new friends who share your interests;
  • you can rediscover forgotten skills and knowledge, or learn something completely new!

What to expect

As a member of  Melbourn & District u3a you can access courses, groups and events in a wide range of subjects including arts, languages, literature, history, science and technology. You can also access fitness classes, organised walks and music groups. There is something for all interests and abilities – do see the website for the current list of interest groups. A monthly newsletter is sent to members and this can also be found on their website.

Most of the courses and activities are run by other u3a members. Some are held in public venues, others are held in the tutor’s home or online. Once you’re a member you may decide to run a course or activity yourself.

There is also a u3a in Cambridge with a wide range of other courses, groups and activities – find out more here.

To attend activities you first need to become a member, and there is a membership fee to pay. A reduced rate is available for those joining mid-year.
