Walking Bootcamp with Cambridge Bootcamps

Back to Activities

Low impact outdoor group exercise classes for all fitness levels, focusing on strength, mobility and balance using a range of equipment. Sessions are particularly good for people over 45 who may be returning to exercise or are experiencing menopause.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • friendly teamwork boosts social wellbeing;
  • exercising outdoors is great for mental wellbeing and boosts mood;
  • keeping fit is essential to future-proof your physical wellbeing.

“I’ve been attending walking bootcamp for 7 months twice a week and feel so much better for it! The classes are a mix of circuit training, strength and balance exercises and are different each session. The instructor easily adapts activities to accommodate any injuries (and sometimes the weather!) I love taking part but the best thing about it for me is being outside which adds an extra dimension of wellbeing to the classes”.

What to expect

These lower intensity exercise sessions are a good option for those who need or prefer to avoid higher impact movements, such as running or jumping. The focus is on strength, balance and mobility and uses equipment such as light dumbbells and resistance bands. Led by Lou, an experienced instructor, who will always demonstrate alternative ways to move if an exercise is unsuitable or uncomfortable. These relaxed and sociable outdoor classes are great for both physical and mental wellbeing.

Sessions last around 45 minutes.

More information

Walking Bootcamp is an all-weather exercise session so it is important to arrive prepared – wet weather waterproof clothing in the rain, hats and sun cream in the hot weather. Trail shoes or walking shoes/boots are best in the winter months and trainers with grip in the dry summer months. Choose comfortable clothing you can move freely in, such as sportswear. A bottle of water to stay hydrated is also a good idea.

There is free parking and access to toilets at all locations.

Participants must be able to walk unaided on uneven, wet ground.

Dates and times are available here.
