Wildly Curious

Back to Activities

In the lovely rural setting of Manor Farm in Bourn, Wildly Curious offers a wide range of outdoor learning experiences for children, young people and adults.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • learning bushcraft, survival techniques and other new skills builds resilience and confidence;
  • being outside whatever the weather or season is a good stress buster – fresh air and green spaces have proven wellbeing benefits;
  • being around others and doing things together is a great way to be sociable without feeling like you have to chat if you don’t want to.

“Thank you, thank you Mel. What a great day. I highly recommend the campfire cooking course. The food was amazing and I’m still full. Loved how practical and hands on it all was. Made fire, prepped and cooked food outdoors and enjoyed a fabulous hot chocolate.”

“Help! I’m holding you entirely responsible for this, but W is now MASSIVELY into bushcraft. He has got my old Swiss Army knife and some of the books you recommended and he really wants to MAKE THINGS!”

Introducing Wildly Curious:

What to expect

Led by Mel (a former teacher and current scout leader), Wildly Curious is a place for all ages to learn, play, explore and be active in an outdoor setting.

Wildly Curious offers children’s themed parties, twilight sessions for adults, archery and bushcraft clubs, holiday-time survival schools, home-ed sessions, a pre-schoolers’ group, archery taster sessions, activities for families and bushcraft sessions for groups of adults who are celebrating a birthday, wedding or just want to have a memorable experience.

Mel is passionate about sharing outdoor education and experiences with children and young people with neuro diverse conditions or who may be struggling with low mood or anxiety. Her calm and caring manner means that everyone feels supported and encouraged on good days and bad.

There’s lots more information about what is available and how to book on the website.

More information

Activities take place outdoors, in the shelter (which has a roof but no walls) or in the barn, so dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.

There’s plenty of free parking. From the car park, Wildly Curious is accessed along a 20m wood-chipped track which is wheelchair accessible but a bit bumpy. The shelter area is also wood-chipped. There is a toilet behind the shelter (with two low steps) and two wheelchair accessible toilets at Manor Farm.

As well as being home to Wildly Curious, Manor Farm has The Stove (a cosy and family-friendly café with free wifi), a butcher’s shop, bakery and a collection of rescued goats, pigs and chickens so there’s plenty to do if you are waiting to collect someone from an activity. Find out more here.

Activities and events need to be booked in advance. Prices vary – check the website for details. Payment is by bank transfer.
