Willingham Wheels is a friendly cycling club based in Willingham that welcomes cyclists who want to grow in confidence and ability, as well as more experienced riders. You don't have to live in Willingham to join the club.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- it brings people together;
- cycling is a great way to exercise and improve fitness;
- taking part develops confidence, local route knowledge and group cycling skills.
“Willingham Wheels is a welcoming and informal cycling club which offers a range of regular rides and supports community activities such as the Over Day Centre charity ride.”
What to expect
Participation is informal and generally coordinated every week through a WhatsApp ‘Rides’ group, though sometimes planned rides may change on the day depending on wind/weather/road conditions and ride leader availability. A variety of distances and destinations are offered for all abilities – rides are led by experienced ride leaders and are split into slower or faster groups depending on who wants to take part. Less confident cyclists are supported and will not be ‘dropped’ on a ride or left behind, and all of the rides regroup periodically to ensure everyone is OK.
Typical ride times are 2-3 hours depending on weather and routes. Thursday evening rides include a refreshment stop, Sunday rides may include a coffee stop (refreshments at your own expense).
