What to expect

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride can take you to the main shopping areas in Cambridge, drive you to visit friends or relatives and to doctors or dental surgeries, health centres or to a hairdresser’s appointment. Many people also use the service to go to day centres or community groups.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride also collects groups of people from Milton who would like to travel to Tesco Milton – find the current timetable here.

At present, Cambridge Dial-a-Ride doesn’t offer transport to outpatient hospital appointments as drivers are unable to wait to bring you home.

You can either choose a return or a single journey depending upon your personal plans. When you call to book a journey, you’ll need to say what time you would like to travel out or to return home, and they will make every effort to offer the times you require. The telephone is normally manned Monday-Friday 9am-3pm, if you call outside of these times you can leave a message.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride minibuses are equipped to make it easier for everybody to use them. All buses have lifts for wheelchair users and those who have difficulty using steps.

Drivers stop as near as possible to your front door so that you can wait in the comfort and safety of your home. Drivers will also help to get you safely to and from the bus, and they are happy to carry any bags you may want to take with you. You only have to let the driver know what assistance you need.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride is a membership organisation. To use the service you must apply to become a member and pay an annual membership fee of £10.00. Once a member, each journey has a fixed fare – find out more here.
