What to expect
There are monthly drop-in sessions at various locations across Cambridgeshire. In South Cambs district these are held in Balsham, Bar Hill, Cambourne, Fulbourn, Girton, Great Shelford, Hardwick, Histon, Melbourn, Gamlingay and Sawston. Visit the CDA website for details of locations and timings.
There is no need to book an appointment - just go along. All of the venues are accessible and there will be signage directing you to the session.
You can expect to receive support from a passionate and caring team of staff and volunteers, many of whom have shared experience of hearing loss. They are able to clean and re-tube your hearing aid and give you replacement hearing aid batteries, as well as offer more general support and advice around hearing loss. It's free to attend the sessions and there is no fee for any of the services.
The team are keen to recruit more volunteers to help with these sessions. It would only require a commitment of two hours per month. To express interest or find out more about the role email [email protected].
More information
Cambridgeshire Hearing Help have been delivering services for local Cambridgeshire people with hearing loss since 1978, originally under the name of CAMTAD. Their mission is to reduce the impact of hearing loss on people’s lives across Cambridgeshire. Through these Hearing Aid Maintenance centres they aim to help ease the burden of living with hearing loss, and enable individuals to maintain their independence and enjoy life.
The sessions are provided in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council’s Sensory Services and Cambridgeshire’s NHS Audiology Providers: Addenbrookes Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and Specsavers.

The service is completely free.
