Histon & Impington Job Club

Back to Support

Histon and Impington Job Club is for anyone who is underemployed and looking for work. You don't have to live in Histon or Impington to join Job Club meetings, which are free to attend.

What to expect

Histon & Impington Job Club is a drop-in session and people can come or not as they choose. It is different to the way a Job Centre runs (or the benefits system). The Job Club is there to advise and help you but it doesn’t apply for jobs for you.  A lot of what Job Club does is helping people figure out what they want to do or aim for, as once this is clear, it is much easier to start job searching, tailoring you CV and preparing for interviews. Sessions tend to be small groups of people each week, which allows for personal advice and support.

Each Job Club meeting starts with a chance to meet other people and share experiences over a cup of tea. After about 30 minutes, there will be a short talk about the skills needed to find a job – the topic changes each week, depending on the needs of the group. There will then be time for questions and help with anything you may need. The group is friendly and informal. If you’d like to chat to Chris, who runs the Job Club, before you attend, you can email him.

The Job Club website also has lots of useful information – take a look here.

More information

The Job Club is for anyone who is underemployed. This could be as the result of redundancy, still looking for that first ‘proper’ job after leaving school or college, limited self-employment or being on a zero hours contract.

While based in Histon and Impington, the Job Club is not limited to residents of the villages and anyone who is looking to get a job is welcome to attend.

There is no need to book – you can just turn up at one of the weekly meetings (details here).
