Income Maximisation – South Cambs District Council

Back to Support

If money is tight you can talk to South Cambs District Council's Income Maximisation team. They can make sure you are getting all the financial support and discounts you are entitled to, as well as help you to budget more effectively.

What to expect

If you are worried about money and are finding it hard to make ends meet, then you can book an appointment with a member of South Cambs District Council’s Income Maximisation team to make sure you are claiming all of the financial support you are entitled to. They can also advise on reducing your outgoings and budgeting your income.

You can contact the team to make an appointment using the email address provided or by completing the online referral form. Someone from the team will then phone you to explain about the service and book a confidential assessment appointment with you at a convenient time. You will then be emailed with a list of documents you’ll need to provide. This includes three months of banks statements, three months of payslips and if relevant, your latest benefits award notice. These documents can be emailed, hand delivered, posted or even collected from you in person. You’ll also be asked to complete a consent form and an Income & Expenditure form via E-Sign – this is a digital method of signing & completing documents so you can use a mobile phone, tablet or laptop to fill out information.

The assessment appointment takes place over the telephone and can take up to an hour. When it is complete, you’ll be sent an email providing the results of the assessment including referrals to other sources of support, links to benefits you are entitled to claim and any savings you can make.

If you are entitled to benefits, claim forms won’t be completed by the Income Maximisation team on your behalf, but they will refer you to other agencies or organisations that can help. You may also be referred to other teams within South Cambs District Council to support/advise you such as Rents, Housing and Council Tax.

If you need debt advice, you will be referred to Citizens Advice for a separate appointment.

This service is free to any adult living in South Cambridgeshire.
