What to expect
The Cambridge Adult Locality Team use a multi-disciplinary team approach to assess, provide treatment and signpost to relevant services and support people in the community. The team covers a geographical area including Cambridge City, South Cambridgeshire and East Cambridgeshire.
The locality team support those experiencing symptoms of mental illness which may include:
- Bipolar affective disorder
- Chronic and/or treatment resistant depression
- Severe anxiety disorders
- Severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Severe Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Schizophrenia and other forms of non-affective psychoses
THIS SERVICE IS BY PROFESSIONAL REFERRAL ONLY. Referrals are accepted from the Primary Care Mental Health Service, FRS, Crisis team, Inpatient wards, Liaison Psychiatry, other MH teams, LADs and GPs.

Following assessment by senior qualified members of the team you may be supported in a number of ways:
- Support to manage and understand your illness and assistance to reach your potential
- Information and involvement in treatment
- Advice, information and signposting to community resources and support networks
- Involvement of family/carers
- Relapse prevention, including a plan of what to do in a crisis
- Risk assessment and management
- Education about your illness
- Planning and preparing for discharge
