Wellness Walking

Back to Support

Founded by Nicola Barraclough, Wellness Walking can provide companionship and supportive conversation during one-to-one or group walks in Grantchester, Wimpole, Royston or Wandlebury.

What to expect

When you get in touch with Nicola, she’ll discuss your expectations with you – whether you want a one-to-one walk or a group walk; where, when and how often you would like to walk; how long you want to walk; what you hope to get from doing the walks. She will also take you through confidentiality, pricing and other practicalities.

She’ll then arrange to meet you for an introductory walk at either Grantchester Meadows, Therfield Heath in Royston, Wandlebury Country Park or Wimpole Hall Estate. She also can discuss walking from elsewhere if you’re unable to get to one of these locations. This first walk will give you an opportunity to meet and start to get to know each other.

Walks can be as slow or as fast-paced as you like, and Nicola is familiar with routes of different lengths and terrain at all of the locations to suit your individual needs. During the walk, you can talk to Nicola about whatever is on your mind or you can just enjoy the walk peacefully with Nicola by your side.

More information

Nicola is not a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist, but as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist and support helpline volunteer, she has over 25 years of experience working with adults facing challenges and is familiar with providing individualised, non-judgemental and compassionate care using a range of therapeutic techniques. She is also passionate about walking and the benefits it brings to physical and mental wellbeing.

The price of walks varies – there’s more information on the Wellness Walking website.
