Madingley Hall Garden and Estate

Back to Activities

Madingley Hall's magnificent garden is open to the public all year round. There is also a walking and running route around the Hall's estate.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • being outside and in the natural world is a good stress buster;
  • physical exercise improves mood - there is a route around the estate for walking or running;
  • it is a peaceful place to have a moment of calm.

What to expect

There are maps of the garden and estate on this link.

There are flat gravel paths around the garden which are wheelchair and pushchair accessible, and there are lots of benches and places to sit.

Small group tours of the garden and Hall can be arranged by appointment (see the website for details).

There is a circular 2.4 km walking and running route around the estate's grounds. Most of the route is over flat terrain and well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed (dogs are not allowed in the garden).

More information

There is ample free parking.

Toilets are located inside the front door of the Hall. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are available in the Terrace Bar. Please note that other than that, the Hall itself is not open to the public.

Madingley Hall is part of the University of Cambridge and is home to the University’s Professional and Continuing Education.

Visiting the garden and estate is free, but donations are welcome (there is a donation box in the porch of the Hall).
