Milton Country Park is a family-friendly outdoor space with with lakes, walking/running/cycling routes, play areas and a café. It is managed by registered charity Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • getting outside and spending time in green spaces is a proven stress-buster;
  • there are many different ways to be active on the water or on land;
  • play areas allow children to jump, climb, hide and swing – all great for physical development and coordination.

What to expect?

Created from old gravel pits, Milton Country Park offers a varied natural habitat with woodland, lakes, open green spaces and pathways suitable for bicycles, pushchairs and wheelchairs. There is also a café, two children’s playgrounds and a varied activity and events programme. Activities on the water include:

  • cycling;
  • walking/running;
  • orienteering;
  • junior parkrun;
  • a forest school.

Dogs are welcome (including in the café) and can be walked off-lead anywhere north of the 13th public drain – there’s even a dog wash station.

The park is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The car park, visitor centre, café and toilets are open from 8am but close at different times depending on the time of year – more information here.

Visiting Milton Country Park is free.

The car park is pay and display (card payments only). Most activities that need to be booked in advance require a fee.
